Speakers for community support to ensure safe migration

RAJSHAHI, Dec 18, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a post-rally discussion here
today said that necessary support from the community and other stakeholders
can be vital means to make the government efforts of ensuring safe
migration of workers successful.

They observed that the present government has been working relentlessly
for promoting safe, regular and responsible migration for the benefit of all
concerned.

District administration and Employment and Manpower office jointly
organised the discussion at Shishu Academy auditorium in the city today
marking the International Migration Day- 2019.

Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque and Superintendent of Police Muhammad
Shahidullah addressed the discussion as the chief and special guests
respectively with Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Haque in the chair.

Assistant Director of Employment and Manpower Abdul Hannan welcomed the
participants.

The discussants underscored the need for proper and effective measures for
the rehabilitation of the trafficked victims alongside their family’s
integration and reintegration.

There is also a need of strengthening the mechanism and capacities of
relevant stakeholders to reduce the impact of forced migration, the speakers
said.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Hannan said the government has taken
initiatives to send competent manpower abroad alongside finding out new
overseas job markets for boosting foreign remittance earning.

Around 3,500 people, both male and female, from Rajshahi district have
acquired jobs abroad including the Middle East countries this year.

Prior to their departure, the people were given six-month training on
general electronics, architectural drafting with AutoCAD, dress-making and
embroidery, dyeing, printing and block boutique, fruit processing and
preservation.
