O’Donnell unfazed by Taskin, Mustafizur’s form amid team’s downfall in
BBPL

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2019 (BSS)-Rangpur Rnagers head coach Mark O’Donnell was
more concerned with his top order rather than his bowlers-specially Taskin
Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman as he believes his top order should fire to help
the side get back to winning way.

Despite being dubbed as one of the favourites in the Bangabandhu
Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL), Rangpur Rangers were languishing at the
bottom of the point table, losing their first two matches.

They will take on Cumilla Warriors in their first match of the Chattogram
phase of the BBPL tomorrow (Wednesday). Cumilla won two matches and lost one
so far in their first three matches.

”No not at all concerned with Fizz [Mustafizur] as he is a top and great
bowler. Its only two games of the tournament and this is 12 game tournament,”
O’Donnell said here in Chattogram today.

He added that Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur is working very hard to come up
with their best in the upcoming matches.

“Both of them are working exceptionally hard on their skill at practice and
if they continue to do that they will put you a performance. Does not happen
overnight even a very good player goes through bad times,” he remarked.

He said that his top four batsmen need to face 80 balls in order to
achieve success in the ongoing tournament.

“That’s T20 cricket. We have been competitive in the two games but have
not got the segments right. The first one in the last three overs we got
disappeared and we lost wicket in the power play. The last one we got the
power play right but we lost way in the last four to five overs,” he
revealed.

“So looking for these small improvement .I think the more we play we
should get better and it’s all about putting in all together in T20 format
that is very important. You need the top four to face 80 plus balls because
fall of early wicket creates pressure. We just have to do that little bit
better, he said adding that they were 25 runs short in the last game against
Chattogram Challengers.

“That 20 -25 runs cost you and you can’t afford to coast that chase and
take it easy. If you have to push and chase 170 or 180 total that you have to
go from the start.”
