KCC Mayor pays tributes to Liberation war martyrs

KHULNA, Dec 17, 2019 (BSS) – The Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC)
Talukder Abdul Khaleque has paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the War of
liberation, saying the independence is the greatest achievement of the
Bangalee Nation.

He was addressing a discussion and prizes distribution among the winners
of an art competition arranged for the children as the chief guest yesterday
on the occasion of Victory day.

The people of Bangladesh achieved independence through nine-month-long
bloodstained war of liberation in 1971 at the cost of the supreme sacrifice
of three million people and honour of almost two lakhs women, he said.

On December 16, 1971, Bangladesh emerged as an independent and sovereign
country in the world map through the surrender of Pakistani occupation
forces, he added.

President of Sports and Cultural Standing Committee of KCC S M Mozzaffar
Rashidi Reza presided over the function while Chief Executive Officer of KCC
Palash Kanti Bala, Panel Mayor Ali Akbor Tipu and councilors of different KCC
wards, addressed, among others.
