Elephant kills farmer in Boalkhali upazila
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 16, 2019 (BSS) – A wild elephant crushed a leg of a farmer to death at Joystopura village of Boalkhali upazila on Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Rupon Das, 42, son of late Khrondara Das hailed from Joystopura village under Boalkhali upazila of the district.
Boalkhali thana police said the elephant attacked Rupon in early, morning while he was working at his vegetable field at 6 am today.
Helal Uddin Faruki, Officer Investigation of Boalkhali thana said a group of wild elephant has taken shelter at Karaldanga Hill under the upazila and damaged houses and crops in the area since last month.
Achia Begum, upazila Nirbahi officer of Boalkhali upazila told journalists that necessary steps will be taken in this regard.
