Victory Day celebrated in Kolkata mission
KOLKATA, Dec 16, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata today celebrated the 49th Victory Day paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Liberation War martyrs.
Deputy High Commissioner Toufique Hasan inaugurated the day’s programme by hoisting the national flag at the chancery in presence of the officers, their spouses and staff members.
Victory Day messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen were read out during the morning session of the celebration.
A special prayer was offered seeking divine blessings for the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his slain family members, four national leaders and independence martyrs.
At 10 am in the day, officials of the Kolkata mission placed a wreath at Bangabandhu’s sculpture installed at Bekar Hostel in Kolkata.
Marking the day, Bangladesh mission in Kolkata has taken a three-day programme beginning tomorrow. Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi will be present at the function as the chief guest.
