DFP serves notice on Dainik Sangram

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2019 (BSS) – The Department of Films and Publications (DFP) has served notice on the Dainik Sangram asking the Bengali daily why its media enlistment will not be cancelled for publishing a report contrary to the spirit of the Liberation War.

The Jamaat-e-Islami mouthpiece was asked to reply to the notice within three working days, said a DFP official today.

A copy of the notice was also sent to the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here, the official said.

On December 13, the Daily Sangram published a report terming executed war criminal Abdul Qader Mollah a “martyr”.

Earlier, State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan at a discussion said maximum punitive measures will be taken against the Daily Sangram for publishing the report terming the executed Jamaat leader a martyr.

Sampriti Bangladesh organized the discussion titled ‘Harmony, Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’s Victory’ at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.

Noted journalist and litterateur Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, former JPC President Shafiqur Rahman, MP, former justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, journalist Harun Habib and a martyr’s daughter Dr Nujhat Chowdhury addressed the discussion with Sampriti Bangladesh President Pijush Bandyopadhyay in the chair.
