NARSINGDI, Dec 15, 2019 (BSS) – The Martyred Intellectual Day was observed
here yesterday by paying rich tributes to the luminary sons of the soil who
embraced martyrdom at the fag-end of the War of liberation.
District administration poised to hold a discussion at local Shilpakala
Academy in the evening on the occasion.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun addressed the function as
the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syeda Farhana Kawnine in the
chair.
Civil surgeon Dr.Helal Uddin Ahmed, additional police Super Jakir Hossain,
vice-chairman of Narsingdi Sadar upazila Safar Ali Bhuiyan , former principal
of Narsingdi government college Surjakanta Das and former district
muktijuddah commander Abdul Motaleb Pathen, among others, addressed it.
Government officials, various political, socio-cultural and volunteer
organizations’ members, Zilla Muktijuddah Sangsad leaders, local journalists,
teachers, students and elites took part in the discussion and paid homage to
the great sons of the soil.
A candle light vigil participated by people from all walks of life was also
organised in the evening which stretched from local Stadium to press club.
Islamic Foundation also organized Quran Khwani, milad and doa mahfil at
collectorate mosque where special munajat were offered for eternal peace of
the departed souls of the martyrs.
