BNP conspiring to instigate evil-forces: Quader

DHAKA, Dec 14, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today dubbed BNP as a patron of militancy, saying that the party started hatching conspiracies afresh to provoke the evil-forces.

“Communal and evil forces carried out the brutal killings in 1971. Ghosts of their collaborators still remain in Bangladesh. Followers of them (evil forces) still alive on the soil of Bangla with nurturing Pakistani spirit,” he said while addressing a discussion at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in the city.

AL organized the discussion titled ‘Tomader Ja Bolar Chhilo, Bolchhe Ta Aj Bangladesh’ on the occasion of the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

AL Publicity and Publication Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin conducted the discussion.

Urging the party leaders and activists to remain alert, Quader said, “They (evil forces) are hatching conspiracies. The patron of communalism (BNP) is patronizing them”.

He added: “We should remember that if Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina would have not come to power what would have happened? Was it possible to carry out the trials of war criminals, killers of intellectuals and perpetrators of jail killing?”

Noting that Sheikh Hasina herself made the nation stigma and sins free, AL general secretary said “We” should remember again and again that values and spirits of independence and the Liberation War are still alive as Sheikh Hasina is in power.

At the outset of the discussion, one minute silence was observed as a mark of profound respect to the memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage, four national leaders, martyrs of the Liberation War and martyred intellectuals.

AL Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu, Presidium Members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru and Dr Abdur Razzaque, Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Dhaka City South and North units’ Presidents Abu Ahmed Mannafi and Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and martyred intellectual Altaf Mahmud’s daughter Shaon Mahmud took part in the discussion, among others.
