Ten awarded for excellence in different fields in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 14, 2019 (BSS) – The District Shilpokola Academy (DSA)
awarded ten brilliant persons of Rangpur for their excellence and laudable
contribution to different fields for advancement of the society and the
nation as a whole.

Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam distributed citations, crests and
awards among them for their special contribution to literature, culture,
music and photojournalism for the years 2018 and 2019 at a function organised
by the DSA at Town Hall auditorium here on Friday night as the chief guest.

The awardees are: Sirajul Islam Siraj (2018) and Iftekharul Alam Raj
(2019) in drama category, Tripti Dutta (2018) and Niznul Islam Khan (2019) in
singer category, Vinoy Kumar Banik (2018) and Sagir Uddin Boyati (2019) in
instrumental music category, Harun Ar Rashid (2018) and Ramjan Ali Sarkar
(2019) in folk song category, photojournalist Ronjit Dass (2018) in
photography category and Motiur Rahman Bosnia (2019) in creative cultural
research category.

Presided over by Deputy Commissioner, President of the DSA Md. Asib Ahsan,
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Superintendent of
Police Biplob Kumar Sarker, Organizing Secretary of the district Awami League
Touhidur Rahman Tutul and President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hasan
Rony addressed the function as special guests.

District Officer Nuzhat Tabassum Rimu delivered welcome address.

The chief guest said the present government is an art and culture-friendly
government and working to develop the local and indigenous culture.

“As a part of the government efforts, the initiative of the DSA in
honoring the artists, literary and talented people in different fields is
highly appreciable,” he said.

Abdul Alim Mahmud urged the cultural organizations to enhance their
activities in nurturing, promoting and expanding local and indigenous
cultures to keep the new generation away from the aggression of the sky
culture.

Later, the artists of various sections of the DSA participated in a
cultural function to commemorate Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs of the War of Liberation.
