All set to observe Martyred Intellectuals’ Day in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2019 (BSS) – All preparations have been completed to
observe the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day-2019 here tomorrow with a fresh vow
to establish the core spirit of the War of Liberation.

The political, socio-cultural and professional organisations and
educational institutions will place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar,
hoist black and national flags at half-mast, organise milad mahfils,
discussions and other programs to pay rich tribute to the martyred
intellectuals.

The district and city units of Awami League (AL), its associate bodies,
Rangpur City Corporation, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, Sector Commanders
Forum, JASOD, BSD, CPB, Sommilito Sangskritik Jyote, Udichhi Shilpi Gosthi,
Shilpokola Academy, Begum Rokeya University, Carmichael College, Rangpur
Medical College and many other organisations and institutions will observe
the day.

Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar will air special programs and local
dailies publish supplementary issues containing special articles highlighting
the significance of the day.

Leaders of different organisations and common people will begin observance
by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and monuments of the martyrs,
hoisting of black flags and national flags at half-mast atop all public and
private buildings in the city.

Leaders of the district and city units of AL and its associate bodies will
place wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman, Mural of Bangabandhu and Central Shaheed Minar and arrange
discussions.

President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin, it’s General Secretary Advocate
Rezaul Karim Raju, President of city unit AL Shafiar Rahman, its General
Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal and senior leaders of AL and associate bodies
will address the discussion.

General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju said the
Pakistani occupation army with local collaborators killed the intellectuals
to make the nation talent-less evidently understanding defeat just before
independence of Bangladesh.

Talking to BSS, former district unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha
Sangsad Mosaddek Hossain Bablu urged people to forge rock-solid unity like
that in 1971 to foil conspiracies of the defeated anti-liberation forces
against the country and its people.

He demanded completion of trials of war criminals and killers of martyred
intellectuals to completely free the nation from the stigma.
