141 drug traders, addicts return to normal life in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2019 (BSS) – Some 141 drug traders and drug addicts came
back to normal life after giving themselves in to police at a function on
Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana office premises in Sadar upazila of the district
on Thursday afternoon.

Resending to the call of Rangpur district police under its ‘Alor Pothe
Fera- (Returning to the path of light)’, the drug traders and addicts
surrendered in the function organised by Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana police.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Biplob Kumar Sarkar welcomed them with
bunches of flowers as the chief guest.

On the occasion, the surrendered drug traders and addicts of four unions
under Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana admitted their mistakes, sought forgiveness
and expressed commitment to come back to the normal life.

Welcoming the surrendered male and female drug traders and addicts, the
chief guest called upon them to give up the illegal drug business and taking
drugs for coming back to the normal life.

Additional SPs Abu Maruf Hossain and Abu Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain, Officer-
in-Charge of Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana ABM Sajedul Islam, President of
district Swechchasebak League Sirajul Islam Pramanik, General Secretary of
Sadar upazila Awami League Abdul Halim, Chairmen Amenur Rahman of Chandanpat
union and Iqbal Hossain of Haridebpur union and local elite were present.
