Drive to evict 40,000 illegal structures from Dec 23
DHAKA, Dec 12, 2019 (BSS) – The water resources ministry has decided to conduct special drives against 40,000 illegal establishments built on the riverbanks and water-bodies across the country from December 23.
“We have identified 40,000 illegal structures, built on the riverbanks and water-bodies across the country,” Secretary of the ministry Kabir Bin Anwar said this while joining a video conference at his ministry office here today.
The video conference was held to ensure participation of all deputy commissioners (DCs) in the upcoming drives.
The water resources secretary made necessary instructions to district water resources development management committees led by DCs.
He said soon after the drive the water development board will start its ongoing project works side by side saplings will be planted along with constructing benches for visitors.
Kabir Bin Anwar said officials from the ministry and water development board will supervise the drive against illegal structures.
He assured to provide all out support for conducting successful drives across the country and brining land from occupants, adding: “Lists of illegal establishments were prepared with the cooperation of DCs.”
During the video conference, additional secretaries Mahmudul Islam and Rokon-ud-Doula and officials from cabinet division, public security division and shipping ministry were present.
