Bijoy Mela begins in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 10, 2019 (BSS) – A month-long 31st traditional victory
fair began on MA Aziz Stadium premises in the city with a view to informing
the new generation about heroic tales during the nine month-long bloody
struggle of the country’s Liberation War.

Chairman of Muktijudder Bijoy Mela Parishad and Deputy Minister for
Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel inaugurated the fair by
igniting the victory flame in presence of hundreds of freedom fighters and
people from all walks of life.

Barrister Nowfel in his speech said the traditional victory fair has
been playing a very important role in informing the youth folks of the
glorious War of Liberation.

“The new generation could not be able to know about the fact if such
victory fair was not arranged”, he said.

He said there is no other country in the world that had to shed such
blood to achieve the independence.

Acting President of Chattogram city AL Muktijudda Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury
was also present at the event.

Valiant Freedom Fighters of the city in cooperation with former city
Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury had been organizing the fair since 1989 with
basic objective to focus the supreme sacrifice made by the heroic sons of the
soil for Independent Bangladesh, highlighting true history, culture and
significance of the glorious war before the future generation.

Over 200 stalls and 15 pavilions have been set up on the fair compound.
