Everyone must pay VAT for dev of country: Swapan
Jashore, Dec 10, 2019 (BSS) – Encouraging the people to properly give VAT,
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives
(LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharjee said everyone should support the government by
paying VAT for the development of the country.
He made the comments today while addressing as the chief guest in a
seminar on Value Added Tax (VAT) at Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in
Jashore arranged by the VAT Commissionerate of Jashore, said a press release.
“People have to understand that the country is forwarding ahead with the
money provided by people of the country as VAT….If people can understand
the significance of providing VAT and witness development, they will feel
encouraged providing VAT,” he said.
If people of the country consciously pay VAT, Bangladesh will become a
developed country prior to 2041, Swapan said, added the release.
He also said it is important to modernize the offices that collects
income tax and VAT….VAT collection will increase if VAT is collected
through automation.
Later, the top 21 taxpayer institutions were awarded at the district
level under Jashore VAT Commissionerate.
Jashore Custom Excise and VAT Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain
presided over the meeting where Member of Parliament Kazi Nabil Ahmed for
Jessore-3 constituency and General Secretary of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad
Jashore Tandra Bhattacharjee, among others, were present.
