Amir aims to be highest wicket-taker in BBPL

DHAKA, Dec 9, 2019 (BSS)- Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who was roped in by Khulna Tigers, set an ambitious goal to be the highest wicket-taker in the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).

In doing so, he wants to help the side to clinch the trophy as well as make sure that he would leave the tournament with some confidence after a poor Australia tour where he had taken just one wicket in three-match T20 series.

Khulna Tigers will begin their BBPL campaign by taking on Chattogram Challengers on Thursday.

Amir who arrived in Bangladesh on Sunday, said, “Hope we will serve our team Khulna Tigers well. We have got good bunch of players including the local and overseas. Specially the local players are very good. Hope we’ll do well in the tournament.”

Despite being immensely talented and took the world by surprise with his raw pace on his debut, the left arm fast bowler didn’t quite become as successful as he was expected to be. Still he played a vital role in Pakistan team. But the last three-match T20 series, he played against Australia in last month, he took just one wicket, following the trend of his patchy form.

Amir said his target is to get back his rhythm again and such confident he is on his ability that he revealed that he wants to be the highest wicket-taker for the side.

“I want to be the top wicket-taker in the tournament and that’s the individual goal apart from helping the team to clinch the trophy.”
