BNP lost public support due to negative politics: Quader

BARISHAL, Dec 8, 2019 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul
Quader today said BNP has lost public support due to its negative politics.

“People do not respond to the BNP’s movement…there is no tide in the
dying river of movement. Today the party has lost public support due to its
negative politics,” he said.

Quader, also the Awami League General Secretary, was speaking at the
triennial conference of Barishal City Awami League at Bangabandhu Uddyan
here.

Having failed in elections and waging a movement against the government,
he said, BNP is now busy with showing complains about the government.

Urging AL leaders and activists to win the people’s minds, Quader said:
“You cannot be a leader by inserting your pictures on posters and leaflets.
You have to be a good human being and an honest one to become a leader by
winning people’s minds.”

AL advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu inaugurated the conference
with conference preparatory committee convener Adv Golam Abbas Chowdhury in
the chair.

Speaking on the occasion, Amu said as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led
government is in power, no one is starving here and the country is moving
forward under her dynamic leadership.

AL senior leader and convener of CHT Peace Treaty Implementation Committee
Abul Hasnat Abdullah, AL joint general secretary Abdur Rahman and organising
secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, among others, spoke.

AL advisory council member Maj Gen (retd) Hafiz Mallik, Housing and Public
Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed
Farooque, AL international affairs secretary Shammi Ahmed, information and
research secretary Adv Afzal Hossain, office secretary Biplab Barua, central
committee members Iqbal Hossain Apu, Anwar Hossain and Golam Rabbani, and
