Indian delegation visits BARI

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2019 (BSS) – An Indian delegation of Bangladesh-India Joint Agriculture Working Group visited the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) today.

BARI Director Dr Mohammad Miaruddin welcomed the four-member Indian delegation to the BARI headquarters at Joydebpur in Gazipur, said a BARI press release.

The visiting team was led by Joint Agriculture Working Group’s Indian side Co-Chair and Additional Secretary of the Indian Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare Division Doly Chakrawarty.

The other members of the team were Indian Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare Division Director Prasanta Armoricar, Food Security and Standards Authority’s Director Dr Amit Sharma and First Secretary of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and Chancery Head Midhun T.R.

The Indian delegation visited soil science Lab, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Lab and Toxicology Lab, Post-Harvest Processing Lab, Farm Machinery Lab and Hydroponic field demonstration of the Institute.

BARI Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad gave a brief address at the conference room welcoming the Indian delegation.

BARI’s Divisional Heads, Scientists and Officials including BARI Director (Research) Dr M Abdul Wahab and Principal Scientific Officer (PSO) Dr Dilwar Ahmed Chowdhury, among others, were present.
