‘Ganatantro Mukti Dibas’ tomorrow

DHAKA, Dec 5, 2019 (BSS) – “Ganatantro Mukti Dibas” will be observed in the country tomorrow marking the fall of autocratic ruler in 1990.

On the eve of the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued a message greeting the people and described them as “Sentinel of Democracy” on the day of fall of autocracy in 1990.

“The 6th December is the day of freedom of democracy. It is a significant day in the history of restoring democracy,” she said, adding that on this day in 1990, the autocratic government fell down,” she said.

“We struggled for long to restore democracy and voting rights of the people. The people of the country had joined the movement spontaneously,” the premier said.

Recalling the supreme sacrifice of many democracy-loving people, including Noor Hossain, Babul, Fattah, Doctor Milon, Sheikh Hasina said the autocratic ruler was forced to bow down on December 6 in 1990 following mass-movement and democracy was restored.

“Let’s build a hunger and poverty free and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangladesh’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation by making foundation of democracy stronger and working together for development of the country and welfare of its people,” she added.

Different political, social and cultural organisations have chalked out various programmes marking the day.
