Banned Shahzad in Rangpur Rangers squad

DHAKA, Dec 5, 2019 (BSS)- Rangpur Rangers has roped in Afghanistan opener
Mohammad Shahzad for the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) as
their player in foreign quota.

Shahzad has been banned from International cricket by Afghanistan cricket
board for breaching the team’s code of conduct during the 2019 World Cup, but
he is eligible to play domestic T20 tournament all around the world, said
Rangpur assistant coach Mizanur Rahman Babul.

Rangpur included Shahzad to the squad due to the unavailability of their
West Indies opener Shai Hope, who said he can be available only for one week
at the tournament.

Shahzad is meanwhile a regular face in BPL and plays the shortest format
very well. He also offers wicket-keeping option to the Rangpur Rangers.

His ban however will be withdrawn from next August.

Shahzad will pair with young Bangladeshi opener Naim Sheikh to open the
innings for Rangers.
