Taskin to use BBPL as tool to return to national team

DHAKA, Dec 5, 2019 (BSS) – Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is eagerly waiting to
surpass his previous year’s performance in the upcoming Bangabandhu
Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) as he aims to force his case stronger for
the national team from which he was away for quite some times.

At the same time, his target is to complete the tournament, being injury
free since he got injured in the last BPL season after performing
magnificently.

The last BPL was a breakthrough tournament for the fast bowler who took 14
wickets in the group stage and returned to national team for the tour in New
Zealand. But the injury which he carried from the BPL ruined his hope. Later,
though he came back in the national team, he couldn’t show performance worthy
and was axed further.

But this year, he said he is well equipped to deal with the injury and
perform as per the expectation.

“My target is to play well, wherever I get the chance. I will try to be
fit and well. The main goal is to perform well in the upcoming BBPL and give
my best, so that I can get back to the national team once again,” Taskin said
here today after his side Rangpur Rangers’ practice session at the National
Academy Ground in Mirpur.

“My injury management is now better than before. Now I can understand the
type of my body and know what I should do to keep me injury-free. Still
injury is the part and parcel of a players’ career and the pacer is more
vulnerable to injury. So I will try to take good preparation to keep me in
better stead.”

“I am hoping for better performance than previous year but at the end of
the day, it is cricket. Some day you will play good and some day your
performance won’t be up to the mark. But yes, I hope to win matches for
Rangpur as many as I can,” he added.

Not only the previous year, Taskin in fact always put a performance worthy
in the BPL always. As he enjoys the tournament more than anything else, he
always comes up with better performance, Taskin revealed.

“Actually, I enjoy BPL very much. It’s the best tournament of the country.
There are so many star players with whom we share the dressing room, so there
is festive mood all around,” he disclosed.

He said he is working intensively to better his performance in the Test
cricket also.

“Test cricket is a tougher place. You need to have mental fitness and
skill to thrive in Test cricket. I think mental willpower is the key to do
well in Test cricket,” he said.

“BCB gives us better trainer and facilities to do well in Test cricket. We
are training hard under their guidance. Hopefully the improvement will be
visible.”
