Bangladesh post massive win over Maldives in SAG women’s T20

KATHMANDU, Dec 5, 2019 (BSS)- As expected Bangladesh women’s cricket team,
riding on Nigar Sultana and Fargana Hoque’s twin unbeaten tons, registered a
massive 249-run win over the Maldives in their second match of the ongoing SA
Games Women’s Cricket T20 on Thursday at Pokhara Stadium.

Bangladesh amassed a massive total of 255 for 2 from their allotted 20
overs after they opted to bat first on the placid wicket.

The duo also shared a strong 236 runs for the third wicket stand after
Bangladesh lost both their openers early at 19 runs in the scoreboard.

Nigar Sultana blasted 65-ball of 113-run hitting 14 boundaries and three
over boundaries while Fargana Hoque was more aggressive as she hammered 53-
ball of 110-run with the help of 20 over boundaries to help Bangladesh post a
daunting total.

Shamma Ali took the lone Bangladesh wicket conceding 38 runs.

In reply, Maldives suffered early batting jolt and eventually was
dismissed at only 6 in 12.1 overs.

Ritu Moni and Salma Khatun both shared six of Maldives’s wickets conceding
one and two runs respectively.

The Maldives, comparatively the weaker team in the competition, was early
dismissed at 16 and 30 runs to Nepal and Sri Lanka respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a good start by beating Sri Lanka by seven
wickets in their opening match and recorded their second successive win with
a ten-wicket win over hosts Nepal in second match.
