Preparing myself to take up the role of finisher: Sohan
DHAKA, Dec 4, 2019 (BSS)- Out of favour Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman
Nurul Hasan Sohan vowed to use this Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League
(BBPL) as the tool to firmly establish him as the finisher, something which
the national team is searching for their World T20 squad and also for the ODI
squad.
The 26-year-old Sohan has already played three Tests, two ODIs and nine T20
Internationals but just couldn’t cement his place in the team, a thing for
which he lamented vehemently.
But the lad from Khulna doesn’t want that the regret for not cementing
place in the national team, to haunt him further, and therefore he has taken
this upcoming BBPL as his final frontier to quell all the doubt over him.
“Everyone sees how many 50 or 100 you are making but I think 10-run is
important if it helps the team to win the game,” Sohan said here today.
“Suppose I hit 100 but my team loses the game, then the value of 100 is
nothing to me.”
Sohan knows in the current Bangladesh set up it is impossible for him to
bat up in the order. And since he would have to bat in lower down the order,
it is important to finish the game well.
He said that he is ready to take up the challenge of finishing the game
well by scoring some significant runs.
“In some cases, I think in different way. Self-satisfaction matters most to
me. I think if I can help the side win the game by scoring just 10 runs, then
I will be happy. I have played well in National Cricket League and for A
team. I had some healthy score there also. Now my challenge is to finish the
game well and help the side win the game,” he remarked.
Sohan though has the hidden disappointment of not knowing well as to why
he is axed from the team, he doesn’t want to give it a thought, rather he
wants to step ahead, shrugging off that frustration.
“In the last match with the national team, I scored 47 runs. Probably there
was something like team combination, that’s why many things don’t happen. But
for me it is important to give my best regardless of the fact of where I
play,”” he concluded.
