Gold medalist Priya hospitalized

KATHMANDU, Dec 4, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh woman’s gold medalist karate
Marzan Akter Priya has been hospitalized today (Wednesday) after being
injured during the team karate event final.

She is out of danger now after treatment, confirmed Karate Federation
team manager Kyaws Shwe Hla.

Priya suffered injury after being hit below to her ear while playing
against Sri Lankan opponent today. She was brought out from the meet
immediately and taken to Blu Cross Hospital by ambulance.

The medical in-charge of the emergency Dr. Prajwal Man Shreshtha said:
“We are investigating her and provided some pain killers because the patient
told she is feeling pain on her head neck. She seems ok now, but we called a
neurologist for further investigation.

Karate Federation manager said: “She has taken to the hospital and she is
all right now. We have lost a gold medal for her injury.”

Women’s kumite team comprising Mounjera Borna Marzan Akter Priya, Humaira
Akter Antara and Naima Khatun however managed to beat Sri Lanka by 2-1 but
lost to Pakistan by the same margin without injured Priya.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Priya won one of the three gold medals in karate for
Bangladesh.
