Former Biman DGM, director sent to jail in graft case
DHAKA, Dec 03, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent to jail former
deputy general manager (DGM) and director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in a
case for misappropriating Taka 118 crore through corruption from cargo
handling.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) produced former Biman DGM Iftekhar
Hossain Chowdhury and director Ali Ahsan Babu before court and pleaded to
keep them behind bars till conclusion of probe in the case.
Defence lawyers however, pleaded to set them free on bail. After hearing
both the sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ilias Miah sent the two to jail
and fixed tomorrow to hold hearing on their bail.
The anti-graft body arrested the duo earlier this noon.
