Marzan secures third gold for Bangladesh
DHAKA, Dec 3, 2019 (BSS)- Marzan Akter Piya secured the third gold for
Bangladesh by beating her Pakistani rival Kousar Sana by 4-3 points in 55kg
category of Women’s Kumite Karate in the final held on Tuesday at Nepal
Karate Academy Satdobato Lalitpur.`
She was the first female athlete to win the gold in the ongoing SA Games.
On way to the final, she defeated Manish Chowdhury of Nepal by 2-1 points
in the semifinal event.
Earlier on the day, Al Amin won the second gold for Bangladesh in the
karate men’s individual under-60 kg weight category.
On Monday, Dipu Chakma made the nation proud as he won the first
gold medal for Bangladesh in taekwondo event of the ongoing 13th South Asian
Games by winning the taekwondo poomsae event 29-plus-year category.
