Bourses edge down

DHAKA, Dec 3, 2019 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today closed with further downbeat maintaining the trend of previous day.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4697.35 points on Tuesday with a loss of 37.24 points or 0.78 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went down by 11.79 points and 7.04 points to settle at 1617.24 points and 1060.70 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 125,338 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 160.82 million securities.

Loser took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 349 issues traded, 118 securities gained price while 199 declined and 32 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Zaheen Spinning, Miracle Industries, Matin Spinning, Paramount Insurance, Sinobangla Industries, Metro Spinning, Sonarbangla Insurance, Northern Insurance, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh and Tosrifa Industries.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by Sonarbangla Insurance, Stylecraft, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Sinobangla Industries, United Finance, Fortune Shoes, Paramount Insurance, Purabi General Insurance and SK Trims.

The top 10 losers were Samorita Hospital, Progressive Life Insurance, Family Tex, Meghna Cement, Premier Cement, Zaheen Tex, Jute Spinners, Golden Son, AIBL First Islami Mutual Fund and CNA Tex.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining trend of the previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 64.84 points and 107.27 points to stand at 8685.67 points and 14305.30 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 9,525,309 shares and mutual fund of 237 companies were traded, of which 78 issues advanced while 127 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged.
