Govt working relentlessly for people’s welfare: Speaker
RANGPUR, Dec 02, 2019 (BSS) – Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin
Sharmin Chaudhury today said the government has relentlessly been working for
ensuring welfare of the common people.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, massive development
activities are underway in Pirganj upazila as elsewhere in the country and
Pirganj will be turned into a model upazila in near future,” she said.
The Speaker was addressing a function on “Launching official paddy
procurement drive and distribution of cost-free chemical fertilizers and
maize seeds” at Pirganj upazila parishad auditorium in her Rangpur-6
(Pirganj) constituency as chief guest.
The Speaker said the present government has taken elaborate agriculture-
friendly programs, including distribution of cost-free fertilizers and seeds
among small and marginal farmers.
She directed the authorities concerned to carry out the paddy procurement
activities more transparently.
” If we can empower women, half of the country’s population, with different
trainings, the dream of building a developed country can be materialized ,”
she said
Dr. Shirin said fifty academic buildings of different educational
institutions have been constructed in Pirganj upazila in last five years and
the country is moving ahead toward all spheres of the national life ,
including education, as such the present government is committed to continue
its mammoth development programs,” she said.
The Speaker inaugurated construction works of 28 educational institutions
of the upazila by laying down foundation stones at Pirganj upazila parishad
premises.
Later, she addressed the fresher’s reception, accorded to the newly admitted
intermediate level female students and witnessed a cultural function at
Bhendabari Mohila College as chief guest.
The Speaker also distributed 1,000 pieces of ‘Bandhu Chula’ and sewing
machines and tube wells at Bhendabari union parishad premises and addressed a
function there.
With Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer T M Momin in the chair, the function
was attended among others , by President of Pirganj upazila Awami League (AL)
Advocate Azizur Rahman Ranga, its General Secretary and Pirganj Municipal
Mayor Abu Saleh Mohammad Tazimul Islam Shamim, Pirganj Upazila Chairman Noor
Mohammad Mondal and its Vice-Chairman Shafiur Rahman Mondal Milon.
