Govt embarks on providing houses to 14,000 freedom fighters

DHAKA, Dec 01, 2019 (BSS)– Adhering to the idea of glorifying the country’s freedom fighters, the government has envisioned a Tk 2,200 crore project to facilitate houses for 14,000 insolvent freedom fighters.

Parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs disclosed this at its ninth meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here today, said a press release.

The meeting was told that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the project on the occasion of the Mujib Year in 2020.

During the meeting, the committee also discussed about the Gulistan Shopping Complex, formulation of laws and regulations of Jatiya Muktijoddha Council and list of the Rajakars’ and Al Badars’, added the release.

The parliamentary watchdog held an elaborate discussion on the overall progress of the decisions taken on its previous meeting.

Chairman of the committee Shajahan Khan chaired the meeting.

The committee members – Liberation Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Rajiuddin Ahmed, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam and AB Tajul Islam were present, among others, during the meeting.
