DHAKA, Dec 1, 2019 (BSS)-Former national opener Anamul Haque Bijoy aims to get his place back in the Bangladesh’s T20 squad by playing well in the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Knowing that the competition is stiff, Anamul said he particularly wants to focus on scoring at healthy strike, something for which the team management is craving for.

The strike rate of the most of the top order batsmen in Bangladesh’s T20 set-up is not satisfactory enough which is why the team management this year said that they are finding the players who are able to score runs with 140/150 strike rate.

Anamul, who is recruited by Dhaka Platoon, insisted that he wants to take this chance to cement his place in the national team and want to make sure that he would score runs at a strike-rate over 140 runs.

”Players have their own plans. How he will play, how well he can play, how much he can contribute for the team. Of course the players will have their plan, I also have some plans as to how I can contribute for the team,” Anamul said here today.

“I think, with good performance I can get my place back in the national team and prepare myself for the T20 World Cup,” he added. ”Not only for me, it’s a very good platform for every player. And it excites me the most because I could contribute for three champion teams out six BPL tournaments.

So I think BPL is a wonder platform for me to perform. I hope there will be no difference this season. I will try to perform better this time. I will try to keep the strike rate 140 for the team to win,” he said.

He admitted that there is also some pressure to perform due to the hype of BBPL. ”Yes there is some pressure as a player. Everyone talks around. Everyone expects (me) to play well. I also have some plans. When I am not able to be successful, then the pressure comes. We have Mashrafe bhai, who is expert in winning the BPL trophy. We have champion teammates.”

Anamul said that he is confident that Dhaka Platoons can go a long way in the tournament considering the strength of their squad. ”I think Dhaka has formed a very good team. We have best opener of our country in Tamim Iqbal. We have Test captain Mominul, a leader like Mashrafe. We have a coach like Salahuddin.

There is the foreign recruits like Afridi and Wahaa Riaz. I think we have very good team. We have domestic level performers like- Raqibul, Arif. So I think this is a very good team where we can play with comfortably for the team like the team wants. So I think Dhaka has made a team like Dhaka. Everyone has different affection for Dhaka,” said Anamul.

”I think as a team we are in a very good stead. And we have started practicing very early because of that excitement.” Despite being the strong team on paper, Anamul insisted that they have to perform well since the complexion of T20 game changes very quickly.

”T20 is a game of 20 overs. Here three-four overs can change the game and the momentum. So I think we should perform very well when we will come to the ground.”
