4 get death, 7 life imprisonment in Kushtia double murder case

KUSHTIA, Dec 01, 2019 (BSS) – A Kushtia court today sentenced four persons to death and seven others to life imprisonment in a double murder case of 2016. Besides, another accused named Arif Malitha got 10-year imprisonment in the case.

The court also fined each of the convicts Taka 50 thousand. In default, the jailed convicts will have to suffer one year more in prison. Judge of Woman and Child Repression Control Tribunal Munshi M Mashiur Rahman pronounced the verdict this morning.

The convicts who got death sentence are – Komol Hossain Malitha, son of Nurul Islam of Golapnagar village, Kamrul Pramanik and Suman Pramanik, sons of Kabul Pramanik of Fakirabad village and Noyon Sheikh, son of Nazrul Islam of the same village under Bheramara upazila in Kushtia district.

Seven accused who got life term imprisonment are Nazrul Sheikh and Abdur Rahim alias Lalim Sheikh, sons of Chher Ali Sheikh of Fakirabad village, Mahfuzur Rahman, son of Akul Mandal, Hridoy Ali, son of Benzir Pramanik, Samrat Ali Pramanik, son of Nazir Pramanik of the same village and Ziarul Islam and Ashraf Malitha, sons of late Nurul Haque Malitha of Golpanagar village under Bheramara upazila in Kushtia district.

According to the prosecution, in the year 2016, the convicts used to tease the plaintiff Ashrafuzzaman Ratan’s nephew, a seven grade student. As school teacher Mujibor Rahman and his brother Mizanur Rahman protested the matter, the accused attacked them and killed Mujibor on the spot.

Mizanur was badly injured and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
