People’s cooperation sought for building peaceful society

RANGPUR, Dec 1, 2019 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud has sought cooperation of common people from all walks in life to maintain law and order for building a peaceful society.

“The common people can play crucial role through extending cooperation to police force in eliminating curses like drug, gambling, militancy, terrorism, eve-teasing, child marriage and stopping spread of any type of rumours,” he said.

Alim said this at a free medical camp and spontaneous blood donation function followed by a friendly football match and meeting on law and order at Dhumerkuthi Joy Bangla Bazaar in Haragachh Thana of the metropolis on Saturday evening as the chief guest.

Presided over by Kawnia upazila chairman Anwarul Islam Maya, Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters and Admin) of RpMP Mohidul Islam, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADC-Crime) Shahidullah Kowsar, ADC (Headquarters) Abdullah Faruk and President of Rangpur Metropolitan Community Policing Committee Idris Ali addressed the occasion as special guests.

Thousands of local people attended the programs and enjoyed the friendly football match held on the playing ground near Dhumerkuthi Joy Bangla Bazar between Dhumerkuthi Adarsha Football Team and RpMP Football Team.

At the end of the football match, the chief guest called upon local people to participate in more events of sports, including rural games those are now on the verge of extinction.

“Sports always keep the human body healthy and mind fresh and spread brotherhood and friendly relations among people teaching them to be generous,” he said.

He said, “Sports develop the mentality to accept both win and defeat among the people along with teaching them discipline, discipline and punctuality in keeping the society free from social crimes.”
