2 drug traders held with 190-kg ganja in Lalmonirhat
RANGPUR, Nov 30, 2019 (BSS) – Police seized 190 kilograms of ganja
(marijuana) and arrested two alleged drug traders on Friday from Boiragai
Kumar area in Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat district.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Lalmonirhat SM Rashidul Haque disclosed about
the seizure at a press briefing at Lalmonirhat District Police office this
afternoon .
“The arrested drug peddlers could be identified as trolley driver Sabuz
Islam, 22, and drug trader Aminul Islam, 29, of Jummapara area in Sadar
upazila in Lalmonirhat,” SP said .
He said acting on secret information, a special team of police led by
Officer-in-Charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana Mahfuz Alam halted a sand-laden
trolley at Boiragai Kumar area on Friday and after the search, the team found
24 sacks of ganja which was being transported in disguise of the sand .
“Police filed a case against 10 to 12 persons, including two arrestees Sabuz
and Aminul, under the Narcotics Control Act with Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana
police,” the SP said.
Further investigation is on in this connection, the sources said
