Call for paying income tax spontaneously with patriotic zeal

RANGPUR, Nov 30, 2019 (BSS) – Officials at a pre-rally discussion today
called for paying income tax spontaneously with patriotic zeal to strengthen
the national economy for building a developed Bangladesh.

They made the call at a discussion arranged by Tax Commissioner Office of
Rangpur Taxes Zone on its premises in observance of the National Income Tax
Day-2019 in the city.

With Tax Commissioner for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Md Abdul Latif in the chair,
Deputy Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md Mohidul Islam
attended the discussion as the chief guest.

Additional Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur Sheikh Md Moniruzzaman
and Additional Superintendent of Police (Circle B) Maruf Ahmed addressed the
discussion as special guests while Deputy Tax Commissioner at Sadar
headquarters of Taxes Zone-Rangpur Suman Kumar Bormon moderated it.

The chief guest inaugurated the day’s programme by releasing balloons and
pigeons before leading a rally on the streets with participation of tax
officials, rover scouts and girls’ guides, chamber leaders, taxpayers and
elite.

The speakers lauded various pragmatic steps taken by the National Board of
Revenue (NBR) for increasing number of taxpayers and enabling them in paying
income tax easily.

Sheikh Md Moniruzzaman said income tax officials are working with a changed
mindset to inspire citizens in paying income tax in a hassle-free manner to
increase revenue collection.

The chief guest expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of
taxpayers and tax payment every year with improving socio-economic scenario
enhancing revenue collection for implementing various mega projects at own
costs.

“The nation would not need any foreign assistance if all of the bigger,
medium and small-scale taxpayers paid their taxes spontaneously to further
strengthening of the national economy,” he added.

Abdul Latif called upon all eligible citizens to become self-motivated and
pay income taxes spontaneously for increasing revenue collection and
eliminate dependence on foreign assistance.
