RAJSHAHI, Nov 30, 2019 (BSS) – All sorts of preparations have been
completed to hold the fifth convocation of Rajshahi University of Engineering
and Technology (RUET) here tomorrow.
Entire campus of the university has already been turned into a new look
with massive decoration, painting and clean ahead of the grand event.
President and RUET Chancellor M Abdul Hamid is scheduled to preside over
the convocation while Professor Saifur Rahman, Director of Virginia Tech
Advanced Research Institute in the USA, will attend the function as
convocation speaker.
Education minister Dr Dipu Moni will attend as special guest while RUET
Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh will deliver his welcome
speech on the occasion, to be held on the premises of RUET at 2.30 pm, said
RUET VC here on Friday.
He said a total of 2,586 undergraduates registered their names to attend
the convocation to obtain their graduation degrees.
Of them, 597 are from two Departments under Civil Engineering faculty,
1,066 from three Departments under Electrical and Computer Engineering
faculty and 853 from four Departments under Mechanical Engineering faculty,
he said.
Seventy other postgraduates including nine for PhD, 45 for M. Sc
Engineering, 10 for Masters Engineering and 10 for M. Phil degrees have also
registered their names to join the convocation ceremony, he added.
Prof Sheikh also said that various sub-committees are working relentlessly
to complete the convocation successfully and preparations to this end have
already been completed.
