BNP shows narrow mentality not welcoming Holey Artisan case verdict: Nasim

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) presidium member and central 14-party alliance spokesman Mohammed Nasim today said BNP has shown narrow mentality by not welcoming the verdict of Holey Artisan Bakery attack case.

“We were surprised when we saw a party did not welcome the verdict in Holey Artisan Bakery attack case,” he said while addressing a memorial meeting on late journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury at Jatiya Press Club here.

Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Trust arranged the meeting.

Nasim said the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has taken zero tolerance policy against militancy and terrorism.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina curbed militancy in an iron hand, he said.

Nasim said Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury used to write analytical columns on international affairs, especially South Asian affairs, and his works would inspire young journalists.

With Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Trust president Advocate Qamrul Islam in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by noted journalist Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, former foreign secretary Waliur Rahman, acting editor of the daily Sangbad Khandaker Muniruzzaman, the Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, journalist Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, former general secretary of Jatiya Press Club Swapan Kumar Saha and senior journalist Monoj Roy.

Bhorer Kagoj Editor and Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Trust general secretary Shyamal Dutta moderated the meeting.
