Humayun seeks Japanese support to renovate CUFL

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2019 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun today sought Japanese support to ensure uninterrupted production in the Chittagong Urea Fertiliser Factory Ltd (CUFL) through renovation.

“Japan’s Toyo Engineering Corporation established the factory and it has been producing fertilizer for long. Due to technical problem in the reactor, production of the factory is hindered,” he said during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Naoki Ito at the Industries Ministry in the city, said a press release.

In the meeting, they discussed various issues, including diversification of sugar industry, modernisation of the fertilizer factory, training for creating skilled manpower and automobile and light engineering.

Humayun said there are huge demands of Japanese Toyota cars in the country and the Toyota Company can establish factories in the country considering the demand. “From the factories, the company can export the Toyota brand cars after meeting the demand of the country,” he added.

Naoki Ito said Japan is feeling proud to be a trade and development partner of Bangladesh for long. Japan has been working with Bangladesh since the Liberation War for developing socio-economic condition of the country, he added.
