Husband sentenced to death for killing wife for dowry
LAXMIPUR, Nov 28, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today afternoon sentenced a
man to death and fined him 10,000 taka for killing his wife in 2016 demanding
dowry.
The convicted is Aktar Hossain, son of Bechu Bepari of Char Kalkini
village in Kamalnagar upazila.
Judge of Lazmipur Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal, Md Sirazuddoula
Kutubi pronounced the verdict.
Tribunal’s Special Public Prosecutor (PP) Abul Bashar confirmed the
matter.
According to prosecution, Aktar Hossain first beat and then choked his
wife Bibi Saju to death on 12 February, 2016 for dowry.
After the incident, Shah-e-Alam, Father of the victim, filed a murder
case against Aktar on 14 February with Kamalnagar Thana.
The judge after examining eight witnesses and evidences handed down the
verdict.
