President urges judges to ensure quick disposal of cases

DHAKA, Nov 27, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today urged the judges to take necessary steps for quick disposal of cases in an efficient manner.

“Judiciary is the last hope of the litigants. The number of judges are less than the country’s huge population . . . So you have to take necessary steps for quick disposal of cases,” the President said while newly appointed nine judges of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here.

The head of the state hoped that with the help of lawyers, judges and other concerned, the trial activities will be accelerated, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Noting that the information technology is now very important tool, he urged the judges to utilize the IT in trial process. “Use of information technology (IT) in courts will help speedy trial of cases,” Abdul Hamid, also a veteran lawyer, observed.

The President expressed the hope that the newly appointed judges would remain active in discharging their duties honestly, faithfully and neutrally.

Welcoming the judges, President Hamid also wished their success.

The newly appointed nine judges are: Muhammad Mahbub-Ul-Islam, Shahed Nuruddin, Md Zakir Hossain, Md Akhtaruzzaman, Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder, Kazi Ebadat Hossain, KM Zahid Sarwar, AKM Zahirul Haque and Kazi Zinat Hoque.

Secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban were also present.
