Int’l Workshop on Disaster Management held at DU

DHAKA, Nov 27, 2019 (BSS) – A three-day long international workshop on
‘Deeper Understanding of Natural Disaster (UND) Resilience’ concluded today
at Dhaka University (DU).

The Department of Disaster Science and Management of DU, UND Project Ges
National Resilience Programme and Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief
jointly organised the workshop at CARS auditorium on the campus.

State Minister of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md
Enamur Rahman, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management
and Relief Md Mohsin, Assistant Professor of DU Disaster Science and
Management Department Md Marufur Rahman, addressed the programme with Local
Coordinator of the workshop and Dean of the Faculty of Earth and
Environmental Sciences of DU Prof ASM Maksud Kamal in the chair.

In his speech, Dr Enamur Rahman said, “Bangladesh is always prone to
natural disasters. The present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
always remains ready to take precautionary measures to face disasters.”

The Minister hoped that participants gathered knowledge and experience
about disaster management from this workshop.

Academicians and researchers from the eight countries of Asia including
Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia and Taiwan participated in
the workshop.
