PM to launch 5 BSC ships tomorrow

DHAKA, Nov 27, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will launch five ocean going ships of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) tomorrow.

She is expected to launch the inauguration ceremony of these new ships through video conferencing from her official Ganabhaban residence.

BSC has collected a total of six ships recently, of which, three are oil tanker and three others are bulk carrier. Earlier Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the `M.V Banglar Joyjatra’ in 2018.

In tomorrow’s launching program, PM will inaugurate two bulk carrier and three oil tankers. The ships are M.V Banglar Shamriddhi, M.V Banglar Orjon, M.T Banglar Agrajatra, M.T Banglar Agradut, and M.T Banglar Agragati.

These six ships has been procured at a cost of taka 1,637 crore 15 lakh under a deal signed between Bangladesh and Chinese governments. Of the total amount, Chinese government allocated taka 1,527 crore 66 lakh and BSC supplied the rest from its own fund.

The ship separately can carry 39 thousand Deadweight Ton (DWT), said a press release.
