KGDCL to check 1.5 lakh ‘gas riser’ to avoid accidents

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 27, 2019 (BSS)- Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) has taken initiatives to check gas riser to avoid any fatal incidents including fire.

KGDCL will bear the expenditure to check about 1.5 lakh Gas Riser in the port city from first week of the January 2020.

KGDCL sources said if any fault or leakage is detected in the riser, it will be repaired instantly.

Meanwhile, 30 checking teams consist of hundred engineers and 40 repairing technicians have already been formed.

KGDCL hopes after checking the risers of domestic and industrial use, the fatal incidents and side by side depreciation of gas incidents will decline.

Mohammad Sarowar Hossain, General Manager of KGDCL confirmed their decisions of gas riser checking to avoid any sorts of gas related untoward incidents. He said the authority will distribute sufficient posters and banners to the city dwellers regarding the issue to create awareness among the dwellers and industrialists.

It is worth mentionable that about one lakh five thousands gas risers were checked under the finance of World Bank project in the last 9 months.

Sources said there are 5.97 lakh gas connections in the city.
