Tipu for inclusive efforts to enhance skilled manpower export

RANGPUR, Nov 27, 2019 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today called
upon the officials concerned for engaging inclusive efforts with a changed
mindset in rendering services to produce more skilled manpower and enhance
the export of them.

“The media should also play a crucial role in inspiring people to avail
training facilities and incentives being provided by the government to become
skilled enough before going abroad to earn more wages,” he said.

The Minister expressed the view while briefing at a seminar titled
‘Enhancing skill and awareness for overseas employment’ held at the
conference room of Deputy Commissioner here as the chief guest.

The Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment organised the
event under assistance of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office with
Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam in the chair.

Principals of Technical Training Centres, Managers of different branches
of Expatriate Welfare Bank and other banks, executives of different NGO
involved with safe migration of overseas job-seekers from all eight districts
in Rangpur division participated.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Metropolitan Police
Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General)
Md Zakir Hossain, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police
Iqbal Hossain and Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan were present as special
guests.

Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas
Employment Kazi Abed Hossain delivered welcome speech in the event arranged
in light of the Prime Minister’s plan to send 1,000-skilled manpower aboard
annually from every upazila.

Discussing activities of different wings of the ministry, he said
Bangladesh is exporting 10-lakh people abroad annually to earn 16 billion US
dollars remittance every year. The government is providing skill enhancing
training to youths on 55 trades in this regards, the minister added.

Additional Director General of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and
Training (BMET) of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment
KM Ruhul Amin delivered the keynote presentation.

“We have to conduct door-to-door motivational campaign to export 1.24 crore
skilled workforce in the next five years,” he said.

The Minister said officials of different wings of the Ministry of
Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and diplomats in foreign missions
should work sincerely with a changed mindset to enhance export of skilled
workforce.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina puts emphasis on proper utilisation of our
demographic dividend,” he said and urged officials to work accordingly in
producing skilled workforce to enhance manpower export especially from
backward Rangpur region.
