Country produces ‘golden bags’ from jute: Minister
DHAKA, Nov 26, 2019 (BSS) – Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi today said foreign investment will be encouraged to increase the production of diversified jute products by modernizing the jute mills of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation.
He stated this while a delegation led by Chinese Ambassador Li Jiming met him at his ministry here, said an official press release.
The minister said for the first time in Bangladesh ‘golden bags’ are being made from jute. The government has taken various measures to spread the appeal of uses of jute goods across the world, he added.
“Bangladesh will get more appreciation from the world due to uses of jute and jute goods as the ‘golden bags’ are environment friendly and easily perishable,” he added.
Li Jiming said the friendly relations between Bangladesh and China are very old. The existing relationship is getting stronger through regular trade between the two countries, he added.
Textiles and Jute Secretary Lokman Hossain Miah, BJMC Chairman Abdur Rauf, Additional Textiles and Jute Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique, Joint Secretary Khurshid Alam, Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Gazi Golam Mortuza, among others, were also present.
