3 JMB men to die in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 25, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced three
members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to
death and four others to life imprisonment for killing a man in Nachole
upazila of the district in 2012.

Additional district and session Judge M Shawkat Ali pronounced the
verdict.

Six of the convicted persons were present during the announcement of the
verdict.

Three JMB men, who were awarded death sentence, are Sanwar Hossain, 30,
son of Ershad Ali of Chanpara under Nachole upazila, Jahangir Alam, 32, son
of Abdul Quddus of Balugram Rajarampur village under Gomostapur upazila of
the district and Abdus Shukur, 32, son of Mofizuddin of the same area.

Those, who were awarded life term imprisonment, are Shamsul Hoque, 26,
son of Nurul Islam of Gopalnagar village under Gomostapur upazila, Abdul
Matakabir alias Bulbul, 26, son of Nazrul Islam, Saiful Islam, 32, son of
Nazrul Islam and Shamim, 28, son of Mahtab, residents of Chakpustam village
of Gomostapur upazila.

The victim Salman, a resident of Dhanmandi Dhaka, came to Nachole at his
father-in-law’s house on the day of his murder.

According to prosecution, the convicted persons killed the self-declared
Ameer of the then JMB Ruhul Amin alias Salman on April 26, 2012 following an
internal conflict.

Police recovered the beheaded body of Ruhul Amin from a mango orchard at
Khalsi Baria village under Nachole upazila of the district the next day.

Later, sub-inspector Anisur Rahman of Nachole police station filed a
murder case accusing unknown persons on the same day.

Sub-inspector Goutam Chandra Pal of the police station submitted charge
sheet to the court against the convicts on August 29, 2015.

After hearing the witnesses and evidences, the court declared the
verdict.
