Archers pass frustrating day

DHAKA, Nov 25, 2019(BSS)-The Bangladesh archers passed a frustrating day in the 21st Asian Archery championship now being held in Bangkok, Thailand.

On third day of the championship held on Monday, country’s fame archer Ruman Sana failed to move semifinal as he lost to Pathairat Tanapat of Thailand by 6-2 set in the recurve man’s elimination round.

Earlier, he beat his Thai counterpart Matan Florante by 7-1 to move to the last sixteen spot.

Besides, Taminul Islam Tamim, Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Sakib Mollah also failed to move quarterfinal losing their respective rivals in the pre quarter final events.

In the recurve woman’s elimination round, female archer Nasrin Akter, Beauty Roy, Nosammat Ety Khatun and Mehnaj Akter Monira all lost their respective matches.

In the compound man’s elimination round, Sohel and Asim Kumar lost their respective pre quarterfinal matches while in the compound woman’s elimination round Susmita Bonik lost to her pre quarterfinal match to her Chinese Taipei rival.

In the recurve man’s team event, Bangladesh lost to North Korea by 5-1 set. In the compound mixed team event, Bangladesh team comprising Asim Kumar and Susmita Banik lost to Korea in the quarter final.
