AL-backed panel sweeps Khulna Bar election

KHULNA, Nov 25, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League backed Bangabandhu Ainjibi
Parisad has swept the Khulna Bar Association election, bagging 10 posts out
of 14.

Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parisad’s candidates Saiful Islam and K M Iqbal
Hossain have been elected president and general secretary (GS) respectively
in the polls held on Sunday at the district bar auditorium.

Among 1,391 registered voters, 1,256 casted their votes in the election.

Chairman of the three members’ election conducting committee advocate A F M
Mohsin announced the result this morning after counting vote.

According to the results, Saiful won president post, bagging 685 votes and
Iqbal won general secretary post, getting 627 votes.

BNP-Jamaat backed all party united council Sarbodoliya Ainjibi Oikkya
Parishad president candidate Molla Muhammad Masum Rashid got 558 votes and GS
candidate Molla Moshiur Rahman Nannu got 614 votes.

AL backed other elected executive members are – K M Abu Nixon (Joint
secretary), Sheikh Ashraf Ali (Library Secretary), Anwara Mumtaz Anna
(Literature and Cultural Secretary) and members Ayub Hossain, Sheikh Abu
Bakkar Siddique alias Nayeem, Shammi Akter, Ulaskar Bairagi and Alamgir
Biswas.

BNP-Jamaat backed panel just won 4 posts including two vice-president
posts. They are – Mossarraf Hossain (Vice-president), Aowsafur Rahman (Vice-
President), and executive members Asad Ali Sarker and Rubayea Mahru.
