REMAND-SMUGGLING-GOLD
Two remanded over gold smuggling
DHAKA, Nov 23, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed two including a
staff of private US-Bangla Airlines on two-day remand each in a case lodged
under Special Powers Act with Airport Police Station.
Investigation officer (IO) and sub-inspector of Airport Police Station
Sujan Fakir produced US-Bangla Airlines customer service assistant Omar Faruk
and one Mamun Miah before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day
remand.
Allowing the police plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Habibur Rahman
placed them on two-day remand each.
Members of Dhaka Customs House preventive team detained the two red-handed
as they were trying to sneak out of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport
with three gold bars on November 22.
