KCC mayor vows to build drug-free city

KHULNA, June 3, 2018 (BSS) – Newly-elected mayor of Khulna City
Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque today asked the law enforcing
agencies to strengthen anti-drug drives and arrest listed drug traders for
making Khulna city free from drugs.

“After the prime minister’s instructions, they have hit the ground and
conducted drives against drug dealers,” he said while addressing a meeting at
Khulna Press Club here.

Human Rights Protection, a rights organisation, arranged the meeting with
its president Dr Kamrul Islam in chair.

Khaleque, also the president of Khulna City unit of Awami League, said
many families of the country were destroyed by drugs.

Additional police commissioner Rakibul Islam, Khulna Press Club president
Faruk Ahmed, its former president SM Nazrul Islam, general secretary Mallick
Sudhangshu, president of Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) SM Zahid Hossain
and its former president Mamun Reza, among others, spoke at the meeting.
