Bangladesh bats first in historic day-night Test against India

KOLKATA, Nov 22, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque won the toss
and elected to bat first in his side’s maiden day-night Test against India at
Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.

The Tigers which lost the first Test in Indore by an innings and 130-run
brought up two changes to the side, with pacer Al-Amin Hossain and off-
spinner Nayeem Hasan replacing left-arm spinner Taijul Islam and off-spinner
Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque said the pitch is good to bat on because
of the surface which is dry.

India, who leads the two-match series by 1-0, however remained unchanged
from the first Test.

Virat Kohli said he would also love to bat first in the match.

“Surfaces underneath could allow our spinners to come into the game in the
first two sessions, before the pacers come in under lights. Got to be precise
and focused in the first session to get hang of the pink ball,” Kohli said.

After the toss, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who came here by
the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Norendra Modi and BCCI president
Sourav Ganguly, along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were
introduced to the players in the ground.
