Manikganj ’71 Terosree genocide Day tomorrow

MANIKGANJ, November 21, 2019 (BSS) – The dreadful 1971 Terosree Genocide Day
in Manikganj will be observed in a befitting manner tomorrow.

To mark the historic and fateful day, Manikganj District Administration,
Ghior Upazila Administration, local Freedom Fighters have chalked out day-
long programmes.

The programme of the day includes placing wreaths at the memorial of the
martyred of the Terosrii Genocide, brining out mourning procession and
discussion meetings

On 22nd November in 1971, the occupation Pakistani forces in collaboration
with local Al-badars and Razakars cordoned the village Terosree off and
brutally killed a total of 43 innocent villagers mostly Hindus including the
then Jamindar Siddheshwari Roy Prosad Chowdhury and Principal Atiar Rahman of
Terosree College in the brought day light.

They charged bayonets on them and killed after setting fire on them .
Jamindar of Terosree, a philanthropist and who was the chief patron of the
local educational institutions established Terosree Kalinarayan Institute and
Terosree College, .

He also helped to establish many other educational institutions in the area.
Locals said contingent of Pakistan Army in collaboration with their local
agents (Albadar and Razakar) surrounded the village in the morning and
attacked the innocent villagers.

First, they shot at Jamindar and burnt him to death alive after covering his
body with cloths.

Later , the collaborators caught Atiar Rahman, Principal of Terosree
College red handed and gauged his eyes out with bayonets and also killed him
in same brutal way .

The Pakistani Army killed all innocents villagers one after another. Among
them, Sadhan Kumar Sarker, Biplob Kumar Saha, Sachindra Nath Goswami, Makhan
Chandra Sarkar, Ramjan Ali, Mahendra Das, Nitai Chandra Das, Shyam Lal
Sutradhar, Jagodish Chandra Das, Jogesh Sutradhar, Narayan Sutradhar,
Ramcharan Sutradhar, Delwar Ali, Madhab Datta, Jadab Datta, Jogesh Datta,
Shyamapada Nag, Rajballav Nag, Gada Mia, Kasimuddin, Ekhlas Mollah,
Tafiluddin, Wajiuddin, Sadhu Charan Das, Sudhanya Das, Surendra Das, Jogesh
Chandra Das, Gour Rajbangshi, Monindra Das, Srimanta Das, Pran Gobinda Saha,
Jogesh Ghose, Ganendra Ghose, and Tasim uddin were identified by the
survivors.

To commemorate the genocide district and Upazila administrations, District
Freedom Fighters Command Council and many other organizations have been
observing the day since 2012 .
